The Department of Environment and Natural Resources currently has a vacancy for the position of Senior Land Assessment Officer (Palmerston) within the Rangelands Division.
The position reports to the Principal Land Assessment Officer and is responsible for supporting the sustainable development of the Northern Territory’s land resources by providing knowledge and expertise in the assessment of land clearing applications ensuring alignment with Government’s commitments to managing climate change risks while building resilience in the environment. The position will undertake greenhouse gas emission calculations related to land clearing.
The position is required to undertake the assessment process for native vegetation clearing applications under the Planning Act 1992 and Pastoral Land Act 1992, through the provision of timely written comments, technical assessments and reports for the consent authority. The position is required to maintain the land clearing spatial database.
The position must also exercise responsibilities of an Authorised Inspection Officer under the Planning Act 1992 and Pastoral Land Act 1992 in relation to native vegetation management.
