Bush Heritage Australia
This is an exceptional opportunity to make a very real contribution to the protection of Australia’s unique wildlife and their habitat.
Bush Heritage Australia is a national leader in landscape-scale conservation and working with Aboriginal communities. Independent, collaborative and evidence-based, we work where we are needed most: in areas of high conservation and cultural value. With our partners we protect and help manage 11.3 million hectares of land, providing habitat for over 6,359 native species, including at least 243 threatened species, and work to enhance these living cultural landscapes.
We have two proven approaches to what we do: we carefully select, purchase and manage landscapes of high conservation value; and we work in partnership with Traditional Owners, to achieve conservation and cultural land management outcomes.
About the role:
The Conservation Planner will work with the National Conservation Planner to coordinate, develop and support Bush Heritage’s regional and reserve teams to work with Traditional Owners in the development and review of regional and property-based conservation plans.
A particular focus will be to complete and share evaluation plans as part of the adaptive management cycle. It is expected that the Conservation Planner will also be available to support Bush Heritage’s Aboriginal partnership groups in the management of conservation and cultural values across Australia.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of statistics, and experience with coaching and mentoring with a passion for excellence in design and implementation of evaluation programs. The successful candidate will preferably have knowledge of the Conservation Standards. On the job training is available for the right candidate.
If you have a passion for conservation, a desire to build your reputation, a willingness to travel and work in remote locations and a commitment to working collaboratively, then this is the role for you!
Bush Heritage Australia actively encourages applicants from diverse groups and communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, women, people with diverse ability and LGBTIQ (sexuality and gender diverse and intersex) communities.
