Kakadu is recruiting a pivotal position to assist running strategic programmes to recover threatened and other significant species across the Park.
The Organisation and the Team
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) designs and implements Australian Government policy and programmes to protect and strengthen our agriculture, water resources, the environment and our heritage.
Parks Australia is a part of the DAWE and jointly manages Kakadu National Park (KNP) with the Traditional Aboriginal Owners in accordance with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), the Kakadu lease agreements, the Kakadu National Park Management Plan 2016-2026 and other documents.
The responsibilities of the Country & Culture Section (C&C Section) include the protection of KNP’s biodiversity by managing threats, including weeds, ferals and conducting a significant fire programme, and implementing and assisting significant species research and programmes.
As part of the C&C Section provide leadership to achieve the best practice management of the biodiversity and values of World Heritage and Ramsar listed KNP by:
This role requires significant consultation and liaison with Traditional Aboriginal Owners, as well as scientists, contractors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
