Reef Catchments is a regional community not-for-profit business focused on enhanced use and management of natural resources (land, water, vegetation and ecosystem health) while maintaining a viable regional community. 

Reef Catchments is currently seeking expressions of interest for a Project Officer (Indigenous Identified) with experience in the Natural Resource Management Industry.

Reports to: Project Coordinator - Coasts & Biodiversity.

We are seeking someone who is highly motivated, has a strong commitment to safety and can work well in a team environment.

Skills and experience required for the roles

  • Project management experience, with a focus on natural resource projects, including responsibility for site assessments, operational planning, works supervision, budget management, stakeholder management, monitoring, and evaluation and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of:
    • wetland ecosystems and management
    • coastal and/or island habitats and restoration
    • marine ecosystems and management
    • flora and fauna surveys
  • Building and maintaining productive partnerships in the development and delivery of projects, with a focus on Traditional Owners, farmers, community groups and government agencies.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with influence, to a diverse client base including landholders, industry groups, government and contractors.
  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and peoples, particularly around procurement, workforce, and community engagement. (Desirable)
  • Prior experience in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. (Desirable)
  • Experience in developing and/or implementing Cultural Heritage Management Plans, Indigenous Ranger Programs and/or Caring for Country Plans (Desirable)
  • Current manual Driver’s Licence.
