Local Land Services (LLS) was established in January 2014 to provide quality, customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales.

The organisation brings together the agricultural advice, biosecurity, natural resource management, emergency services and Soil Conservation Service functions previously provided by 28 organisations into a single organisation comprising around 950 staff with a budget of approximately $225 million.

Our team is there when it matters, on the ground helping landholders with knowledge, networks and local experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager Agricultural Production and Protection to join the Local Land Services (LLS) (Hunter region) to lead and manage teams delivering agricultural extension and advisory, pest animals, animal biosecurity and welfare, emergency management, travelling stock reserves and customer services.

You will lead the partnering with productive agriculture and other land managers to benefit their business, environment and communities. You will participate in state level initiatives to coordinate and improve service delivery. The role is highly engaged not only within the business but with external stakeholders and industry to deliver excellence in customer service and to align research, development and extension efforts with local priorities

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A strong vision and passion for helping regional communities grow productive agricultural enterprises and healthy landscapes
  • Proven people leadership and rapport building skills complemented by a solid reputation within rural communities
  • Communicating to various stakeholders, whilst negotiating and influencing them is your forte
  • You will have considerable project management skills and project leadership skills in agricultural production and/or protection
  • Ideally your experience will include managing diverse teams across multiple locations
  • Suitable degree qualifications, ideally in agriculture, biosecurity, emergency management or equivalent
  • Experience in managing complex budgets and organisational resources including risk mitigation and business planning
  • Must have a valid Australian Drivers Licence and willing to travel

A talent pool may be created from this recruitment action for ongoing and temporary roles of the same standard that may become available for filling over the next eighteen months. The successful applicant in this role may be required to undergo a police check, health assessment and other assessments as required.
