About the role

As a Ranger you’ll provide effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, bushfire recovery and field-based activities including bushfire management, and law enforcement. You will contribute to ensuring DPIE & NPWS obligations and aims are met through the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.

Located at Verges Creek (Kempsey) on the mid-north coast of NSW you will live and work amongst stunning beaches and rich sub-tropical hinterland. Rangers in the Hastings Macleay Area manage a wide variety of national parks, nature reserves and historic sites ranging from dramatic coastal headlands through to remote mountainous terrain containing ancient World Heritage-listed Gondwana rainforests. Strategic planning, project management and stakeholder engagement will be key requirements of this role.

  • Hat Head National Park
  • Arakoon National Park
  • Limeburners Creek National Park
  • Willi Willi National Park
  • Gondwana rainforest

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency
  • The role is physically demanding and the requirements of a specific medical will need to be met (includes a task based physical assessment), with a clearance to undertake the firefighting task-based fitness test which must be met to at least a moderate level.
  • Current Driver’s License and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
  • Obtained certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
  • A willingness to fly in light aircraft and the ability and preparedness to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting
