About the role
As a Ranger you’ll provide effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, bushfire recovery and field-based activities including bushfire management, and law enforcement. You will contribute to ensuring DPIE & NPWS obligations and aims are met through the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.
Located at Verges Creek (Kempsey) on the mid-north coast of NSW you will live and work amongst stunning beaches and rich sub-tropical hinterland. Rangers in the Hastings Macleay Area manage a wide variety of national parks, nature reserves and historic sites ranging from dramatic coastal headlands through to remote mountainous terrain containing ancient World Heritage-listed Gondwana rainforests. Strategic planning, project management and stakeholder engagement will be key requirements of this role.

There is a strong emphasis on regional NSW.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) manages, conserves and cares for land in national parks and reserves, playing a critical role in conserving biodiversity, as well as natural and cultural heritage. NPWS links customer, conservation and cultural outcomes in a sustainable way by building participation in the management and use of parks.

A Talent Pool may be established for future roles with similar focus capabilities. The Talent Pool may be available to hiring managers from the Planning, Industry and Environment Cluster and other NSW Public Sector agencies over an 18-month period.
