CQ Environmental Services Team Leader - Environmental Scientist

The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Scientist to join our Rockhampton office and lead our Environmental Services team. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in ecology, project management, proposal and report writing and have grounded business development skills. You will report to the Regional Manager and will support them through project management of multiple and multi-faceted projects from inception to completion. 

Required skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years consulting and project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams; managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance, evaluation and the building of effective team dynamics.
  • Excellent skills in a wide range of environmental projects related to development including development applications, EPBC referrals, sediment and erosion control plans, water quality, environmental compliance, air, noise – a jack of all trades!  
  • Demonstrated business development and client liaison skills
  • Experience in multiple industries including: Construction, Local Government, Renewable energy
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth, Queensland and interstate environmental legislation, including regional ecosystem framework
  • Proven data analysis, technical report and proposal writing skills
  • Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or have a valid permit to work in Australia. 
  • Current manual drivers’ licence; with clean police and driving records.

Skills and experience that would be beneficial:

  • Post graduate qualifications
  • Strength in Fauna & Flora ecology
  • Fauna handling experience
  • Exposure to NetSuite or other ERP platforms

  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions;
  • You must be able to commit to flexible working hours and be comfortable with remote fieldwork;

  • Strong team player
