Salary etc:

$58,542 to $68,515 p.a. + an additional 15.4% super (APS Level 3 - Technical Officer Level 2). Ongoing.

Applications are currently being requested to fill two positions within the Data and Digital Group in the National Observing Operations Program, having a focus on practical and technical expertise to deliver the required outcomes for observing network operations within the Brisbane's Hub area of responsibility.

The purpose of an Observing Operations Hub is to house all the competencies required to fully service the requirements of the area it covers.

A Hub Technical Officer (TO2) will be expected to undertake straightforward tasks (with elements of complexity) related to observing operations program activities. Under the direction of other staff, you will perform routine maintenance, inspection, calibration, fault finding and repair of observing assets such as Radar, Upper Air, Surface Network, Flood Warning and Facility-related supporting infrastructure and equipment.

Additional relevant duties at the APS 3 level include administrative support, research and analysis, installation and decommissioning of observing system assets and related infrastructure, remote resource monitoring, scrutiny of observing network data quality and taking remedial action as necessary. You may be tasked with additional relevant duties at the appropriate level.

As a Brisbane Hub Technical Officer, you will have the opportunity to travel to regional and remote areas of Northern NSW and SE QLD to undertake inspection, maintenance and repairs as a requirement of this role.

Specific training relating to meteorological equipment will be provided by the Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre as well as on the job training. The Hub Technical Officers are required to have completed all training and maintain currency of all relevant competencies relevant to their role.
