We are made up of  botanists, zoologists, ecologists and data analysts, that work with a diverse range of clients from the resource industry to local government, across Australia and internationally. The Role

If you’re an experienced Botanist, we have some exciting opportunities for you to join our team! As a Botanist at Astron, you will have the freedom to innovate, extend your knowledge and generate new scientific solutions to some fun and complex projects. You’ll also get to work with the latest technology, hardware and UAVs among a diverse team of specialised and experienced scientists.

You will have proven experience in botanical projects in Australia; which is a substantial component of this role. You must be available, enthusiastic, and passionate about the environment! You must also be fit for work and willing to undertake surveys or monitoring projects in the field. Previous experience in implementing projects on behalf of mining, energy or utility companies, or state or local government is essential.

Other features of this role include:

  • Work on large and complex projects as part of a successful team
  • Implement project related deliverables and processes
  • Analyse, identify, record and collect data from field surveys
  • Support logistical requirements, desktop investigations and reporting
  • Participate in pre-mobilisation / demobilisation preparation for field programs
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external relationships
  • Work with management and clients to manage project risks and issues
  • Help develop new innovative approaches to environmental management.

Required skills include demonstrated experience in field Botany in WA, as well as:

  • A Graduate degree or higher in Natural Resource Management, Biological and/or Environmental Science or Botany is also required. Familiarity with drone operation and IoT sensors will be highly regarded.
  • Further, you must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team and display a strong commitment to health, safety and the environment.
  • You will also have a C Class drivers licence and Apply First Aid certificate.
