Hawkesbury River County Council is a local government organisation that covers one-third of the greater Sydney area. Our roles are focussed on landscape weed management, weeds regulation of the Biosecurity Act, environmental education and natural resource management.

About the role

You will coordinate and perform weeds inspections and surveillance over an area of 3,800km2. You will utilise a GIS system to assist you in planning and recording. You will work as in Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act 2015. You will educate the community about weeds and guide landowners to achieve better land management outcomes. You will record your results and achievement regularly.

The area of work covers one-third of Greater Sydney and contains a diversity of landscapes and ecosystems. From the Blue Mountains to rivers, wetlands and prime agricultural land. You will be entitled to a lease-back (private use) vehicle. You will be entitled to a pay-for-performance scheme. You will be provided training in the Biosecurity Act if you do not already possess this. You will be encouraged to attend conferences and take other opportunities to continually grow your skills.

Skills and experience

You will be highly organised, act at all times with integrity. You will be a solid communicator and possess an excellent understanding of weed identification, control and strategy.
