Council is recruiting a Community Engagement Officer to deliver engagement events that connect local residents to the Tarralla Creek as it undergoes change, and to build community capacity to continue environmental monitoring and volunteering activities independently.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to combine community engagement and capacity building with the natural environment to complement the Re-imagining Tarralla Creek Project that, in partnership with Melbourne Water, is re-naturalising Tarralla Creek in Croydon.

Working as a member of the Strategic Planning and Sustainability Team, the post holder will deliver on commitments made to secure a Caring for Our Local Environment grant from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

These include:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver community event activities that engage local community in group activities associated with Tarralla Creek
  • Collect information about community interest in the development of a Tarralla Creek-focused community group
  • Design and deliver activities to establish and develop capacity of a Tarralla Creek-focused community group.

The successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, show initiative, and work closely with local community and agency partners.

As part of our recruitment process you may be required to have pre-employment checks. (Psychometric Assessment, Medical, CrimCheck and provide us with a current Working with Children Id Card - Employee).
