About the Organisation

Terrain Natural Resource Management (NRM) is a leading independent not-for-profit organization that, for more than 15 years, has been working with more than 50 organisations and hundreds of individual land managers and farmers across the Wet Tropics region.

Terrain’s focus is to improve the condition of the Wet Tropics environment and Great Barrier Reef whilst also maintaining sustainable livelihoods and industries.

Terrain’s track record for managing, monitoring and evaluating projects is extremely strong, consistently delivering beyond contracted expectations.

Collaboration is at the core of our business model.  The Wet Tropics region is a complex land and seascape of World Heritage Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, which can only be protected by the community working together.

About the role

Terrain is seeking a dynamic, innovative relationship builder and leader.  Terrain is known as a genuine, committed and trusted partner to organisations working in the Wet Tropics, coordinating and delivering projects in collaboration with local partners to improve the health of Australia’s most important natural treasures, whilst contributing to the economic prosperity of the region.

The new CEO will be an emotionally intelligent, respected and self-confident leader, empowering both individuals and partner organisations to succeed.  A skilled manager, the new CEO will maintain and enhance the internal culture of Terrain, harnessing the efforts of the team and steering the team in directions that will ensure Terrain’s long-term sustainability and ongoing success.

It will be critical for the new CEO to understand how best to access funding, in particular by taking proactive steps to be ahead of the game and at the forefront of innovation and strategies to achieve the ambitious objectives outlined in the strategic plan.

This is an incredible opportunity to lead an organization that is at the epicenter of the national debate around environmental sustainability and economic development.
