About Us

frc environmental is Queensland’s pre-eminent aquatic environmental consultancy, offering expertise in marine, estuarine and freshwater ecosystems.  Our clients include all levels of government, and leaders in the water, resources, development, tourism, legal and aquaculture industries.  Our work takes us across Queensland, Australia and internationally.  We provide the scientific credibility and clarity to support our clients’ confident decision making.

As a boutique consultancy, we focus on quality over quantity. We value integrity, empathy with our clients' interests, attention to detail and the rigorous application of critical thinking.

We offer a genuine alternative to the big multi-disciplinary practices. As a key member of our team, you’ll be integrally involved in client liaison, project management and hands-on science.  frc environmental offers competitive remuneration, a well-resourced, positive, team-focused, flexible working environment and the opportunity to make a real difference in the management of our aquatic environment. We’re a meritocracy - there are no ‘glass ceilings’ - your reward and career progression will directly reflect your achievements.

The Position

We’re looking for an outstanding, experienced aquatic ecologist / environmental scientist.  It’s likely that the successful candidate will have post-graduate qualifications and 5+ years professional experience:  experience in consulting would likely be an advantage.  But more importantly, you will be a team player, willing to both share your knowledge and continue learning.  You will present professionally, exercise a high level of scientific rigour, professional judgement and attention to detail, and communicate clearly and concisely.

A focus on the marine environment may be advantageous, whilst its likely you will work across marine, estuarine and freshwater-based projects.  High level expertise in one or more technical discipline (eg. water quality, reef ecology, etc.) is expected.  An aspiration to progress to Principal Ecologist would be encouraged.

Expertise in experimental design and statistical analysis, and / or GIS would be advantageous, as would advanced diving and marine qualifications.

As a project manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of projects (supported by a practice Principal); as a technical expert, you will also play a significant role in the implementation of projects.  Your work will span the field (often deployed to remote locations), laboratory and office.

Remuneration

We’ll gladly negotiate a competitive, tailored remuneration package with the successful candidate.
