Thamarrurr Development Corporation is a not-for-profit corporate entity owned by members of the Wangka, Lirrga and Tjanpa peoples. It has been established by the 20 clans of the Thamarrurr Region, to represent them in relation to business, socio-economic development, employment and training.

The Thamarrurr Region is located in the western ‘Top End’ of the Northern Territory, in the Daly River Port Keats Aboriginal Land Trust.

Thamarrurr Rangers are an important part of Thamarrurr Development Corporation, employing 17+ local Indigenous staff and 4 non-Indigenous support staff, and actively engaging with Traditional Owners and Community members in natural and cultural resource management. The Rangers work across 18,000 km2 of Country and 240 km of coastline from Cape Scott in the north-east to the Fitzmaurice River in the south, and are a well-resourced program through WoC, NTG contracts and ‘fee for service’ agreements.

Currently we are looking for a Women’s Ranger Coordinator to lead the team of 6-7 women rangers in daily work operations.

The work supports TOs aspirations across core land management functions of weed, feral and fire management as well as many other NRM projects including recycling and waste reduction, plant nursery activities and community cultural and education programs.

Applicants should have tertiary qualifications in NRM or related field and will have experience in community development in a contemporary Aboriginal context. Ability to communicate effectively in cross cultural context and to manage small teams in a remote setting. Excellent written and computer skills with solid reporting abilities are essential.

Significant travel into remote areas, so possession of driver’s licence and ability to handle 4wd safely is essential.
