The Role

We are currently seeking a Modelling & Assessment Manager for a Maternity role in our Sydney office. The role manages the project assessment pipeline for projects under the Emission Reduction Fund and Reef Credit Initiative. The role will also require research and development of assessment tools for new methodologies under the Emission Reduction Fund and Reef Credit Initiative.

Specific responsibilities will include

  • Act as the co-ordinator for the technical team’s project assessment workflow
  • Responsibility for the management and oversight of the project assessment modelling and offset accounting
  • Act as the primary point of contact within the technical team for the business origination team regarding project modelling assessments & offset accounts
  • Ensure timely and accurate carbon and reef credit assessments
  • Responsibility for advising on development of in-house assessment tools, and external modelling tools
  • Manage technical assessment data within the MySQL database, and the integrity of this data
  • Ensure the prompt and accurate turn around on all project assessments
  • Drafting assessment document templates including accounts
  • Reviewing all project assessment documentation
  • Ensuring the compliance with existing quality assurance procedures and project management systems
  • Technical support and input on improving quality assurance procedures, project management systems and assessment tools
  • Supervise the communication and management of project implementation strategy to reporting staff
  • Communicate timelines to the Divisional Manager, Operations, the Senior Manager, Business Services & Executive Support, and the Geospatial Team
  • Supervise, ensure accuracy, and oversee preparation technical procedures
  • Ensure transfer of skills and knowledge to staff
  • Effective communication of issues and/or delays to peers, managements & any relevant stakeholders

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree with Honours in science/statistics or 3+ years of experience in a related field
  • Advanced data management and analysis using excel and R
  • Database management and programming using MySQL
  • Knowledge of environmental markets and domestic environmental policy
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent communicator, both upwards/downwards, and across business units

Desired Skills

  • Sound knowledge of domestic environmental offset policies including the ERF and Reef Credit schemes and methodologies
  • Understanding of environmental project origination and accounting
  • Post-graduate degree in Ecology and/or Environmental Science
