Regional Operations Division delivers integrated and customer focused services at the regional and local level to strengthen communities and partnerships across NSW. This includes services, programs and grants to support land use planning, threatened species, native vegetation, education, community engagement, energy efficiency, volunteering, environmental water management, coast and flood protection, compliance and enforcement, adapting to a changing climate and private land conservation.

Primary purpose of the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Officer to be a part of our Compliance Services team. This role will contribute towards the delivery of robust and credible compliance programs throughout NSW, working closely with regions to ensure delivery of innovative, best practice, environmental and conservation outcomes.

Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders spread across regional NSW, this position works in a team environment. This role would be responsible for assisting senior Program Officers within the team and would take the lead on several projects as well.

Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation and promotion of compliance and regulatory programs across the state.

  • Support the development and implementation of compliance and regulatory practices and mechanisms such as state-wide frameworks to ensure good governance.
  • Review and monitor the ongoing effectiveness, relevance and responsiveness to corporate and government compliance and regulation priorities of core systems, processes and procedures. Make recommendations for improvement. Identify changes in the operational context and recommend actions to address and adapt programs.

Essential requirements

  • Sound knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful undertaking of compliance and governance programs in the context of relevant policy and legislative frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering program outcomes including project management, stakeholder collaboration and negotiation to facilitate effective engagement and outcomes.
