Ausecology is looking for a Senior ecologist (full-time/part-time) interested in becoming part of a growing company with the passion and experience to:

  • Conduct ecological assessments including but not limited to flora and fauna surveys, bio-security surveys, Biocondition and rehabilitation assessments, protected plant surveys
  • Collect and collate field data and prepare high quality technical assessment and offsetting reports and management plans
  • Provide technical input and assistance with the preparation of client proposals

The ideal candidate will have good applied knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and how this relates to Ausecology and its projects/clients. This role will include remote area (rural) field trips occasionally requiring extended (up to several weeks) travel.

Qualities:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Botany, Ecology or related field
  • Excellent botanical skills, with good overall general ecological knowledge desirable
  • Experience with fieldwork , including but not limited to flora and fauna surveys, protected plant surveys,  biosecurity surveys, BC Assessments, RE delineation
  • Use of Geographical Information System software is looked upon favourably.
  • Excellent communication skills and client focused
  • Ability to successfully manage ecology teams  and willingness to supervise and mentor junior team members
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Excellent research, analytical and proven report writing skills
  • High appreciation and understanding of Health & Safety standards ;
  • High level computer literacy, in particular the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in field based technical environmental roles
  • Current manual driver’s licence with 4WD experience beneficial
  • Remote area (rural) work experience and willingness to work flexible hours
