Who we are

We are NSW’s bulk water supplier, river operator and your one-stop shop for licensing, water trades and water information. We supply two thirds of water used in NSW from our 42 dams, rivers and pipelines to regional towns, irrigators, Sydney Water and local water utilities. We also own and operate the largest surface and groundwater monitoring network in the southern hemisphere and build, maintain and operate essential infrastructure.

Currently, WaterNSW is looking for an exceptional, customer focused person driven by achieving outcomes in the role of Water Regulation Officer to be based at Nowra. 

In your new role you will:

  • Provide information and tailored advice to customers, employees and stakeholders to improve understanding of the regulatory requirements and options for securing water access licences and approvals within the legislative framework and promoting equitable sharing of water resources.
  • Identify, plan and conduct investigations for breaches and potential non-compliance of water legislation including collating background information, risk assessment (where applicable), site inspections, conducting interviews, obtaining evidence, compiling witness statements, interpreting legislation, compiling advisory and  warning letters, and drafting statutory directions and stop work orders.
  • Register, inspect, assess, advise on and complete water access licence, dealings and approvals transactions including; applications, renewals, extensions and transfers to meet customer requirements and ensure compliance consistent with legislation and WaterNSW standards.

We are looking for:

  • Degree in Science, Natural Resource Management or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and other regulatory instruments relevant to water regulation and compliance and natural resource management.
  • A current Drivers Licence
