Citizen Science Officer

Advertiser:

National Parks Association of NSW

Location:
Sydney CBD, NSW

The organisation:

The National Parks Association of NSW (NPA) is an environmental not-for-profit organisation which has been campaigning for the protection of the environment in NSW for 60 years.

As part of this commitment to the environment, we run a diverse and very active citizen science and community engagement program which aims to increase awareness of environmental issues, and provide avenues to community members and school groups to connect with and learn more about nature and their local environment.

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and effective communicator with a passion for enhancing environmental outcomes in NSW to join the citizen science team at NPA. The role is for a Citizen Science Officer to manage two of our four flagship community engagement projects: Dragons of Sydney and Bush Mates.

The Dragons of Sydney project aims to increase environmental awareness and community engagement through citizen science using the Eastern Water Dragon as an iconic species.

The Bush Mates project provides a series of educational resources and events to empower residents of South West Sydney growth areas to become great ‘mates’ of the bush through immersive community events and planting days and demonstrations of how to improve their backyards and local bushland for biodiversity.
